HIRE TERMS, CONDITIONS AND INFORMATION
Responsibilities/Insurance:
- It is the hirer’s responsibility to return the hired goods complete, in good condition and on time. Please get in touch ASAP if the return is likely to be late.
- Any loss or damage however, incurred, will be the hirer’s responsibility.
- Insurance for all items is the hirers responsibility. Insurance policies often include cover for accessories, but you must ensure your policy is valid with the items fitted.
- The manufacturer and/or dealer cannot be held liable for any damages or injury caused to people or property due to wrongful installation or use.
- It is the hirers responsibility to ensure all items are correctly installed, always secured and compliant with the law even when the installation service has been used.
- If you are travelling on a ferry or the Channel Tunnel, make sure your booking is valid for the new height of your vehicle.
Usage:
- Please ensure you are adhering the weight limit for the roof bars and roof box. There should be a sticker inside the lid advising the limit which will typically be 50, 60 or 75kgs. In the absence of a sticker then the limit will be 50kgs.
- Please ensure you are using the correct key for the relevant lock – if in doubt double check the serial number on the key and lock to ensure they match.
- If you cannot remove a key, then it’s likely the lock has not engaged correctly – this is a safety feature. Open and close the cover/latch again or apply some downward pressure.
- Don’t be alarmed if your vehicle is now making a whistling noise – this is normal with roof bars, roof box, cycle carriers etc. on the roof.
- Depending on your type of vehicle and the length of the roof box hired, it may overhang the front and/or rear of the vehicle. Please be careful when opening your boot in case it touches the base of the roof box.
- If you are using a tow-bar carrier remember your vehicle is longer than normal and any reverse camera’s and/or sensors maybe deactivated.
Snow:
- Be very careful when installing snow chains or snow socks. Ensure there is adequate clearance on the inside of the wheel/tyre and nothing is touching or going to touch the suspension or braking mechanisms.
- Only install snow chains/snow socks when the conditions dictate – driving on anything but snow will result in them being destroyed very quickly and a flaying chain can cause significant damage to your vehicle.
Remember your vehicle height will be different – Watch out for car parks and height barriers!!
Bike Carriers:
- It is the hirer’s responsibility to return the hired goods complete, in good condition and on time. Please get in touch ASAP if the return is likely to be late.
- Any loss or damage however, incurred, will be the hirer’s responsibility.
- Insurance for all items is the hirers responsibility.
- The manufacturer and dealer cannot be held liable for any damages or injury caused to people or property due to wrongful installation or use.
- It is the hirers responsibility to ensure all items are correctly installed and secured at all times.
- The primary purpose of the bike box/bag is to protect your bike. We appreciate marks and scuffs will occur. However if there is structural damage to the box/bag then please report it to the airport staff/airline immediately. You will then be able to make a claim to enable repair or replacement.
- Don’t forget you’ll need travel padlocks to secure the box/bag. Zip ties are an ideal alternative – just remember you’ll need some clippers or scissors to cut them upon arrival!
- It’s a good idea to have a large jiffy bag or similar to put in any spare parts, tools, pedals etc in. This can then be put in the box/bag too.
- Write down any other terms or conditions that protect you or your audience.
